The Little Girl’s Flame

A little girl found a flame. She was mesmerized by the flame’s mysterious warmth. What could she have possibly come across? Although the flame was foreign to her, she couldn’t help but engulf herself in the warmth it offered her. And when she did, she learned.

She learned that when you neglect the flame, it slowly begins to dwindle. If you overwhelm the flame, it grows into an out of control fire, where you would most likely get burned. She had to learn balance.

She was so fascinated and in love with her flame. She was convinced it was love. Although the little girl never knew love before her flame, she was sure that love was not supposed to hurt you. Yet, the flame continued to burn her time and time again. For some reason, even though she was so sad because of the way the flame continuously burned her, she would still try to find the balance. She was always there to take care of the flame even after it turned against her into a wild fire. She knew she had to get out, away from the flame, but her heart was strangely addicted to it.

The little girl was terrified that she would never find warmth like her flame again. So she tried to endure the pain, in hopes that the flame would love her back, in hopes of never being alone.

Sometimes the Universe has other plans and takes matters into its own hands. Upon seeing what the girl was going through, it sent a massive rainstorm. As rain fell from the highest places the eye cannot see, the flame that the little girl grew to love and fear simultaneously had finally been extinguished. It no longer existed.

She no longer had her flame. She no longer had warmth. She no longer had the familiar burns, and no longer had whatever love she convinced herself had existed between her and the flame. The little girl’s greatest fear was now her reality — she was alone.
