Firefly Sky
The dark canvas has yet again returned, as it does every evening once the pink sun sets beyond the hills. Laying back on the cool green grass, I look up. That darkness is lit with thousands of twinkling fireflies and one big bright snowflake directly overhead. Eyes closing, I put my hands behind my head, aware that there are crickets happily conversing in their earthy homes nearby. My heart floats on pure bliss as my ears swim in the warm sea that are the words they heard earlier. Picturing it in my mind is so clear. It is as if you have been here with me once before, even though we know this is not the case. But it will soon become our reality. My heart pines for your presence. My body craves the warmth of yours. Each night my dreams give me immeasurable pleasure when I see your lovely face just inches from mine. Your dark blue eyes with a hint of green. I can almost kiss your nose. Those used to just be dreams. But after the words spoken today, I suppose there is a hint of truth when they say that dreams really do come true. Soon I will no longer be spending my nights alone with the stars as my only companions. Soon I will be comfortably and closely in your arms, sharing the stars’ beauty with your gorgeous eyes. Love is incredibly powerful and my heart is filled with love for you. And I know it will be even greater, when I find your arms tightly embracing me, melting us together in orange candle light. We have waited for so long. Now all those twinkling fireflies in the sky have finally aligned.
